Hundreds Feared Dead in Landslides

More than 200 people, many of them Hindu pilgrims, were feared dead after a huge landslide triggered by torrential rains hit a remote mountain road in northern India, officials said in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh state officials were struggling to launch rescue operations after Tuesday’s disaster, which hit Malapa village near India’s border with China. In landslides in three other parts of Uttar Pradesh, at least 37 people were killed, officials said.
