Dames & Moore Group said its board elected Arthur Darrow chairman of the Los Angeles-based engineering, consulting and environmental services company, succeeding George Leal. Officials weren’t immediately available to comment on a reason for the change or the date when it will be effective. Under Darrow’s direction, Dames & Moore completed its acquisition of Radian International from Dow Chemical Co. for $117 million last month. The purchase is expected to increase the company’s annual revenue to more than $1 billion and make it one of the largest engineering businesses in the world. Darrow, 55, will continue as chief executive, a position he’s held since January 1995. Leal, 64, will remain on the board of the company. Dames & Moore’s shares fell 6 cents to close at $12.81 on the New York Stock Exchange.
