Fare Strike

Re “Taking a Stand,” Aug. 12:
The bus riders’ “No Seat, No Fare” protest is a brilliant idea. I believe the fastest path to more buses is to restrict the MTA coffers by withholding fares; or perhaps the riders would prefer to pay $2 a ride for more seats.
For those Angelenos who have forsaken subsidized transportation, why are we not able to drive 65 mph during rush hour? All society’s resources have capacity limits; we all make concessions. If the bus riders are still impudent as to their lack of first-class service, I will refer them to the Tokyo, Hong Kong, Manhattan or London subways.
