Funds for Dornan

Re “Dornan to Recoup Vote Challenge Costs,” Aug. 6:
I’m really tired of Congress spending public funds on things which have no relevance to the public. Ex-Rep. Robert K. Dornan lost the election and wanted a recount. It should have been at his cost. He plans to run for election in November 1998 and has no money. That should be his problem, not the taxpayer who provides public funds.
This smacks of an illegal campaign contribution. Your article states, “The committee’s decision angered Democrats.” The committee’s decision should anger taxpayers and voters.
