What’s happening the next few weeks:
* This year’s Taos Fall Arts Festival (the 24th annual) celebrates the New Mexico art colony’s 100-year anniversary with exhibitions, festivals, gallery shows and more, Sept. 18 through Oct. 4. Two major art shows lead the pack of events: “Taos Invites Taos,” a juried event, honors artist Agnes Martin with a lifetime achievement award, and presents works in a variety of media by R.C. Gorman, Maurice Lowe, Rachel Brown, Melissa Zink, Emily Benoist Ruffin and others. “The Taos Open” features recent works by local Taos artists. * The home of one of the Taos Art Colony’s founders, Ernest Blumenschein, is a museum maintained much as it was when he lived there. The museum honors Blumenschein’s arrival in Taos with an exhibition, “Celebrating the Taos Society of Artists: A Photographic Exhibition of the 21 Society Members,” Sept. 4 through Oct. 24. * The Harwood Foundation Museum (the second-oldest museum in New Mexico) marks its 75th anniversary with a special exhibition, “Art Patronage in Taos: 1898-1950.” Sept. 3 through Nov. 22. 238 Ledoux St. (505) 758-9826.

* Fall fairs and festivals: The Old Taos Trade Fair, Sept. 26 and 27, offers local traditional foods, music, entertainment and demonstrations of crafts. La Hacienda de Martinez, Ranchitos Road. The Taos Wool Festival, Oct. 2 and 3, celebrates the 400-year history of the wool industry in the region with demonstrations, spinning contests, exhibits and sales of wool and wool garments in Kit Carson Park.
