Driver Held in Hit-Run Accident That Killed Girl
A West Covina woman has been booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl in El Monte, police said.
Beth Anne Smith, 43, was arrested at her home Sunday evening after authorities received a tip, said Armando Valenzuela of the El Monte Police Department.
Mary Louise Rodriguez of El Monte was struck by a 1990 Ford Aerostar shortly before 11 p.m. Friday as she crossed Ramona Boulevard, just east of Lexington Avenue, Valenzuela said. The van driver sped away.
Smith was being held Monday on $20,000 bail and her vehicle was impounded, police said.
