Author Lynda Weinman is opening a training center for digital arts in Ojai.
Geared toward visual designers and industry professionals who wish to learn or enhance their Web design, imaging, animation or software skills, the center will provide courses and certification from top designers and authors.
Beginning Sept. 14, classes will be offered in design principles such as color, layout, typography and navigation, as well as the newest graphics applications.
“I decided to open my own training center because there is a glaring need for a school that is run by industry leaders to teach other professionals in the digital arts,” Weinman said. “I love writing books, but my first love is teaching. This gives me the opportunity to work with students and be better grounded in real world issues, problems and solutions.”
Instruction will be given by Weinman, Bruce Heavin and other lecturers and guest speakers from the digital design field. Weinman has taught at the American Film Institute, UCLA Extension, San Francisco State Multimedia Studies Program and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
She has written six books on Web design.
