Company to Acquire Medical Group, Doctor
Minimally Invasive Surgery Corp. in Camarillo, through its subsidiary Chiu Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, will acquire the assets of the Thousand Oaks Spine Medical Group and the services of Dr. Thomas Clifford, a neurosurgeon specializing in spinal surgery and pain management.
Under the terms of the agreement, Chiu will purchase the assets of the Thousand Oaks group and Clifford’s spine surgery practice and will manage the business and expansion through a long-term management agreement. Clifford will act as medical director of this practice.
Dr. John C. Chiu, chairman and CEO of Minimally Invasive Surgery Corp., said this is the company’s first acquisition since it received new financing.
“Our strategy is to acquire the assets of existing neuro- and orthopedic spinal surgery practices and develop [Minimally Invasive Surgery] centers around these practices in conjunction with long-term management agreements,” Chiu said. “The network will be built upon the foundation of expanded surgical/medical, diagnostics, pain and rehabilitation practices.”
