The Children’s Bureau of Southern California is seeking foster parents to provide short- or long-term care for abused or neglected children in the Antelope Valley. A foster parent orientation will be held at the bureau from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at 1529 E. Palmdale Blvd., Suite 210, Palmdale. The docent office of the Los Angeles Public Library needs volunteers to conduct tours of the historic downtown Central Library for school groups and other visitors.
