* In response to University of California President Richard C. Atkinson’s July 29 letter on UC admissions: flexibility and hypocrisy. This is what the UC regents reaffirmed, not common sense. The UC system motto should read, “Bring me your well-to-do, your well-connected and your physically well-endowed.”
The UC system is funded by all California taxpayers. Therefore, the student body should represent a cross-section of the general population. Otherwise, find another way to fund the UC colleges.
