Ramon Vazquez had three hits and drove in two runs, and Jayson Bass had two hits, but Lancaster lost, 11-5, to Modesto in a California League game Wednesday night at the Hangar. Pete Janicki (1-2) allowed six hits and six earned runs.

Marc DiCarlo had a 14-game hitting streak snapped and Pacific fell to the Western Warriors, 8-2, in a Western Baseball League game at Oxnard. Rafael Ozuna homered for the Suns.

Triple A--Right-hander Roger Salkeld (Saugus High) struck out three in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in New Orleans’ 9-6 loss to Salt Lake.
Double A--Catcher Robert Fick (Newbury Park, Cal State Northridge) had three hits, including a double and his 11th home run, and five runs batted in for Jacksonville in an 11-5 victory over Mobile. Teammate Gabe Kapler (Taft, Moorpark College) hit a double and drove in three runs. Mobile first baseman Mike Mitchell (Rio Mesa) had three hits, including a double.
