3.8 Quake Near Alhambra Shakes a Wide Area

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook the Los Angeles area Saturday evening.
The 6:32 p.m. quake was centered two miles southeast of Alhambra, Caltech seismologist Jim Mori said. It was followed by a magnitude 2.7 aftershock at 7:56 p.m. A magnitude 1.8 foreshock had been measured at the same location at 2:30 p.m.
“L.A. tends to have these little events sprinkled throughout the basin,” Mori said.
People reported feeling the 3.8 temblor from the San Gabriel Valley to downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
