Ocean View Upsets Top-Ranked Servite in Golf

Unranked Ocean View defeated top-ranked Servite, 200-210, in a Golden West League golf match Thursday at Mile Square Park.
Medalist Trevor Young shot a two-over 38 and Scott Younkerman shot a 39--his first score in the 30s--for Ocean View (4-6, 2-2). Will Luciano led the Friars with a 40.
The loss is Servite’s first in league this season.
In the Sea View League:
Woodbridge 197, No. 5 Corona del Mar 199--Sophomore Nate Yates shot one-over 37 to lead Woodbridge (11-6, 2-6) at Rancho San Joaquin.
Max Wallick shot 38 for Corona del Mar (8-3, 6-2), which fell out of a tie for first.
El Toro 185, Newport Harbor 187--Mike Suzuki shot a one-under 34 for El Toro at Costa Mesa’s Mesa Linda Course. Mitch Johns shot a 35 for Newport Harbor.
Santa Margarita 184, Irvine 202--Scott Henderson shot a two-under 34 for Santa Margarita at Coto de Caza. Jimmy Dunn and Steve Conway each shot par for the Eagles (9-4, 7-1).
In the Orange League:
No. 4 Brea Olinda 196, Western 225--Alex Oh shot a two-under 33 for Brea Olinda (14-0, 7-0) at Western Hills.
In the Sunset League:
No. 6 Fountain Valley 382, Marina 405--Jeff Greenfield shot a two-under 70 for Fountain Valley (11-2, 6-0) at Mile Square Park. Scott Osterhout shot a 70 for Marina (6-6, 3-3).
In Century League softball:
No. 2 Foothill 3, Villa Park 0--Lauren Schwendimann struck out 10 and walked one in her third no-hitter of the season for Foothill (17-3, 3-0). Kristen Mann drove in two runs and Lindsay Fossatti tripled in another, also for Foothill. Villa Park is 11-9-1, 2-2.
Orange 5, Santa Ana Valley 4 (8 innings)--Courtney Winter scored the winning run on Crystal Zboril’s two-out double in the top of the eighth inning. Winter reached with a walk, then moved to second on a sacrifice. After a ground out, Zboril hit the double.
Wendy Kralich pitched a four-hitter for Orange (9-9, 1-3) and also had three hits.
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 1, Buena Park 0--Only two runners reached base against freshman Joanna Gray, who threw a one-hitter for Fullerton (7-14-1, 1-3). Jill Pisani had an RBI single in the third for the Indians.
In the Garden Grove League:
Garden Grove 1, Rancho Alamitos 0--Nuvia Marti had 11 strikeouts and walked three in her first no-hitter for Garden Grove (13-5-1, 5-1). It was also Marti’s ninth shutout this season.
In the Sunset League:
No. 7 Marina 2, Esperanza 1 (14 innings)--After back-to-back singles in the bottom of the 14th, Natalie Bonillas came up with the game-winning single to lift Marina (13-5, 3-1). Esperanza is 10-6, 2-1.
In Sea View League boys’ volleyball:
No. 1 Newport Harbor 3, Woodbridge 0--Alan Limon had nine kills for Newport Harbor, 15-4, 15-12, 15-4. The Sailors are now 10-0, 6-0 in league.
Chris Burch had 14 kills for Woodbridge (4-8, 0-6).
