Kapler Shining for the Suns

Gabe Kapler (Taft) of the Jacksonville Suns was player of the week in the double-A Southern League.
Kapler, a 57th-round pick of the Detroit Tigers in 1995, was nine for 21 (.429) with two home runs and 13 runs batted in.
The 22-year-old outfielder’s .307 average is fifth in the league, and he leads the circuit with 20 RBIs.
Last season, he led the Class-A Florida State League with 40 doubles and 65 extra-base hits for Lakeland.

Kurt Airoso (Cal State Northridge) had two home runs and five RBIs for Lakeland (Tigers) in a 16-7 victory over Kissimmee. . . . Jon Schaeffer (Harvard-Westlake) was four for four for Fort Wayne (Twins) in a 4-3 victory over South Bend.
