Humane Society Campaign

Our sincere thanks go out to everyone who responded to the Humane Society of Ventura County’s Prevent a Litter Month campaign.
Through years of study we know that animals live longer and are healthier and happier when they have been spayed or neutered. Many old fallacies still exist about the supposed benefits of allowing animals to breed, but they are not supported by the facts. Too many animals die each day, unwanted and alone, because of the uncontrolled breeding of unaltered pets.
The Humane Society works hard every day of the year to encourage pet owners to act responsibly. We are currently trying to raise money to expand our low-cost spay and neuter clinic. This is a monumental undertaking, but it will double the number of animals that can be altered each day (there is a waiting list).
During our Adopt-a-Thon Open House on May 2, anyone adopting a pet will receive $10 off the cost of spaying or neutering that animal. Several other events are planned for that day, and we encourage everyone to stop by the shelter, visit the animals awaiting adoption and tour the facility.
