Bus Privatization
Regarding the privatization of MTA bus lines in the Valley (April 12), I wonder if Supervisor Zev Yaraslovsky, Julie Austin or William Forsythe would be willing to take a 50% pay cut to offset costs of running a bus line, as they suggest doing to the drivers and mechanics? Have any of them tried to live on $9 an hour recently?
Also, the figures you cite for MTA fares are misleading; anyone who takes the MTA regularly knows to buy 90-cent tokens or bus passes.
