Midtown Council to Hold Meeting Today
Ventura’s Midtown Community Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today in Cooper Hall, next to Grace Baptist Church at 65 MacMillan St.
The group has formed to revitalize the commercial corridors along Main Street and Thompson Boulevard, which over the years have experienced spotty business success, prostitution and other problems.
Tonight’s agenda will include an update on a series of workshops being held by a city-hired consultant to capture residents’ visions for the area’s future.
The so-called “visioning process” comes as the city mulls converting the neighborhood--bounded by Crimea Street, San Jon Road, the Ventura Freeway, Mills Road and the foothills--into a redevelopment area.
