John L. Responte; Retired From Procter & Gamble, Avid Sailor
Longtime Camarillo resident John L. Responte died Thursday at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was 61.
Born May 12, 1936, in Seattle, Responte served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, working as an air traffic controller. One of his last assignments was on Midway Island.
After retiring from the Navy, Responte took a job with Procter & Gamble Co. in Oxnard, where he worked for 20 years.
An avid sailor, Responte was a member of the Channel Islands Naval Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene Responte; a daughter, Janine McLeod; and a grandson, all of Camarillo. Responte was preceded in death by a son, Mark Allen Responte.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Islands, Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo. A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m., with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Assn. Funeral arrangements were by the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Camarillo.
