DODGERS’
ISMAEL VALDES
(9-11, 2.77 ERA)
vs.
ROCKIES’
JAMEY WRIGHT
(7-11, 6.50 ERA)
Dodger Stadium, 1 p.m.
TV--Channel 11. Radio--KABC (790), KWKW (1330).
* Update--Valdes continues to pitch in bad luck. Despite the fact that he has the sixth-lowest ERA in the league, Valdes still cannot get his record back to .500. His last outing is a good example. Valdes gave up only two runs in seven innings against the St. Louis Cardinals, but it took the Dodgers 15 innings to win. One of Valdes’ biggest strengths has been his control. He has walked only 10 batters in his last 70 innings. He is unbeaten in four career decision against the Rockies. Wright broke a four-game losing streak by beating the Marlins, 7-1, last Monday. Colorado outfielder Larry Walker needs to hit a home run either today or Sunday to give him 30 on the road this season, which would tie the National League record for most road homers by a left-handed batter held by Eddie Mathews.
