Davis Would Adjust Therapy for Playoffs
Eric Davis is trying to change the day he receives his weekly chemotherapy treatment so he will be available for all the Baltimore Orioles’ first-round playoff games.
It appears likely that the Orioles will open the first round of the playoffs on Oct. 1, a Wednesday. That’s the day Davis usually receives chemotherapy as follow-up treatment for the colon cancer surgery he had June 13.
“I’m trying to change it from Wednesday to Friday. It can be done,” Davis said.
Should the Orioles play Seattle in the first round, Friday is scheduled to be a travel day.
On Thursday, playing for the first time on the day after he received chemotherapy, Davis went 0 for 4 including three strikeouts.
Davis still isn’t assured a spot on the postseason roster, but Manager Davey Johnson appears intent on making room for him.
