Kick Out Democrats, Robertson Proposes

Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson exhorted supporters to unite around a single candidate to oust Democrats from the White House. A tape of Robertson’s weekend speech at a closed meeting was released by critics who said it proves that the coalition’s main mission is political and that the group doesn’t deserve tax-exempt status. Coalition spokesman Arne Owens did not dispute the authenticity of the tape. In its eight years, the Virginia-based coalition has paid no federal taxes, claiming an exemption for groups that promote public welfare.
