Sewer Leak Sleuth to Receive Award
Nancy Wheatley, chief of technical services for the Sanitation Districts of Orange County, will receive a Poppy Award from the California State Parks for helping to find a solution to sewer line problems at Bolsa Chica State Beach.
The award will be presented at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Bolsa Chica State Beach main lifeguard headquarters in Huntington Beach.
Parts of the state beach were closed temporarily last year because of sewer line leakage from beach restrooms. Wheatley and the sanitation district are credited with identifying the problem, developing solutions and providing detailed testing of the sewer system.
