Mission Features Stobart, His Works
Artist John Stobart will pay a visit to Mission San Juan Capistrano this weekend. The painter’s works are on display for the first time at the mission, through Oct. 2.
Stobart is best known for his 1890s-era-styled paintings of American ports and harbors, including San Pedro, Sacramento, Milwaukee and Boston.
The England-born artist will be painting on the grounds today and Saturday. He also will host a reception for the public from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a lecture and slide presentation at 3 p.m.
Mission admission is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and children. The mission is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is at Camino Capistrano and Ortega Highway.
