OUTLOOK
Six players from last year’s team earned Division I scholarships, most notably RB/WR Murle Sango, who averaged 8.2 per carry and caught 60 passes for 12.9 yards per catch. Strand, a sophomore last year, returns after starting half the 1996 season; he completed 66.9% of his passes for 11 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He will be helped by the return of two starters on the offensive line, McDowell and Olin. But someone must step up to ease the loss of Sango and running back Richard Oates (799 yards, 7.9 per carry). The defense should be anchored by its linebackers, Stiltz, Switzer and Benson. Not to be overlooked in this league, two defensive backs return, Petlowany and Whitesides.
