Now comes the real reason for Notre Dame High’s two-game football losing streak. Blame it on the Sports Illustrated jinx.
Sports Illustrated is working on a story on Justin Fargas, the Knights’ All-American tailback. The magazine was supposed to have a reporter at Friday’s game against Chaminade.
Let there be lights: For the second straight year, El Camino Real will put up temporary lights to have its homecoming game on campus.
The Conquistadores will play host to Taft on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and use lights supplied by Musco Lighting. The game will also serve as a fund-raiser. El Camino Real is trying to raise more than $100,000 to put in permanent lights.
The school has a “Walk For Lights” fund-raising walk scheduled for Nov. 22 at school.
Reverse field: Westlake defensive lineman Ryan Campa intercepted a pass and started off on what he thought was a 65-yard touchdown run in the Warriors’ freshman game Thursday against Thousand Oaks.
The problem was he ran the wrong way. He was tackled in the Westlake end zone for a safety.
“After I was in the end zone and they [the officials] didn’t blow the whistle, I knew something was wrong,” Campa said.
