Mission to Host First Russian Heritage Fest

The grounds of Mission San Juan Capistrano will be filled Saturday with artists, musicians, dancers and food for the first Russian Heritage Celebration.
The event, held from noon to 5 p.m., will be coordinated in part by the Los Angeles/St. Petersburg Sister City Committee and the Orange County Office of Protocol. The committee will officially join Orange County and the Moscow region into a sister-city relationship.
The idea is to promote cultural and business exchanges between Russians and Americans, said Olga Vlasova, executive director of the Los Angeles/St. Petersburg Sister City Committee.
“There is a big Russian community in Orange County,” Vlasova said. “I have found a lot of Americans who cherish and love the Russian culture, and this kind of brings people together.”
Among the events will be a troupe of orphan children from St. Petersburg.
