Death of Man Left at Hospital Probed
Police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old Oxnard man early Sunday morning.
Oxnard Police Cmdr. John Crombach said the station got a call from St. John’s Regional Medical Center about 3:30 a.m. to report that a man with a gunshot wound had been dropped off by people who immediately left the hospital without identifying themselves.
Cesar Garcia was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, police said.
By late Sunday morning, Oxnard police determined that Garcia was killed in Port Hueneme, and turned the case over the Port Hueneme Police Department.
Port Hueneme police said Garcia was shot near an apartment complex in the 100 block of B Street, but could not confirm whether the shooting was gang-related.
Police said no motive has been determined, and the investigation is continuing.
The Ventura County Crime Stoppers is seeking information on the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call them at 385-TALK and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. They can also call Port Hueneme Det. Sgt. Jerry Beck at 986-6534.
