You Can Waver With Steadfast Binoculars

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Even the steadiest hands shake using binoculars, especially viewing long sporting events or watching birds for hours at a time. But that’s not a problem with Canon’s Image Stabilization models, the 12x36 IS and the 15x45 IS.

These compact binoculars have a built-in electronic optical image stabilizer that creates shake-free viewing of objects when you depress a small button on the top. Canon developed the technology for its video cams, then decided to expand optical image stabilization to two models of binoculars.

Both models operate on two AA batteries and are lightweight, weighing 31 ounces and 37 ounces respectively. Canon’s 12x36 IS costs about $700; 15x45 IS, $1,800 to $2,000. For more information, call (800) OK-CANON.
