“I had some friends from France who were in the United States for the first time, so I took them to the French Laundry in Yountville. They had that feeling that there could not be any serious food or wine in the United States. First, they were amazed by the food at the restaurant, but also we had the 1994 Spring Mountain Vineyard Cabernet. They were amazed by that too. The French think that red wines need 10 years to come around. This wine really knocked them off their feet.”
