The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center in Northridge is seeking volunteers to serve as counselors at the nonprofit mental health agency at 8350 Reseda Blvd.
Volunteers will be trained in counseling techniques by mental health professionals, said Thelma Flashberg, a center spokeswoman. Volunteers of a variety of ages and ethnic backgrounds are needed as well as those fluent foreign languages.
“Our center has been serving the community since 1971,” Flashberg said. “It provides affordable counseling to people who might otherwise get no help at all.”
An informational meeting about the counseling training program will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 at First Lutheran Church of Northridge, 18355 Roscoe Blvd. For information, call (818) 341-1111.
