Budget Deadline and Tax Cut
Forget the state Constitution. Forget the constituents whose interests they pledged to serve. The governor and the members of the California Assembly and Senate once again have betrayed the trust of the people of this state by refusing to approve a budget on time. The petty wrangling, juvenile squabbling and infantile posturing once again have taken precedence over the interests of the citizens. And once again there are absolutely no negative consequences for this appalling lack of accountability to the people.
Oops, I forgot we were talking about politicians.
P.S. Pray tell, how did Gov. Pete Wilson manage such a sudden stirring epiphany? I mean, really, are we to believe that his newest proposal for a radical personal income tax cut sprang fully grown out of the depths of the Sacramento Delta summer humidity?

Wow, finally we have a governor who understands that there is a direct connection between governance and the individuals that occupy this state. I am referring to Gov. Wilson proposing a 12% cut on income tax (July 17). It has troubled me greatly to read the countless stories of how well the economy is doing and how much money the state has, especially over what was budgeted for and expected. It doesn’t take a statewide poll or a computer survey to find out that most Californians would like to get a refund or a tax cut if the state economy is performing better than expected.
I have a message for the Democrats who are against this tax cut: Leave politics at home and help the communities that you were sent to Sacramento to represent. A tax cut makes sense and in the long run will help the economy continue to flourish and indirectly provide continued dollars for education.
