Chris McCarron became only the seventh jockey to win 6,500 races when favored Le Casque Gris was victorious in the second race Wednesday at Hollywood Park.

The winner, a son of Relaunch making only his second start, is trained by Dave Hofmans. McCarron reached two other milestones aboard horses trained by Hofmans, winning his 3,000th race on Aggrandizement in 1982 and his 6,000th on Andestine in 1994.

“I forgot all about [hitting 6,500 wins] until I heard [track announcer Luke Kruytbosch] announce it during the stretch run,†said McCarron, 42. “I was in a zone.â€
