To the Rescue: In response to reports of financial woes strangling academic and sports programs at Mission College, Assemblyman Tony Cardenas (D-Sylmar) is negotiating behind the scenes with Mission administrators, Los Angeles Community College District officials and community leaders to find ways to raise funds for the college. Cardenas, above, is urging district officials to change its funding formula, which penalizes small schools like the 4,000-student college.
