Rangers Still a Uni-Cycle
ARLINGTON, Texas — Lee Stevens came within a single of becoming the second Texas player to hit for the cycle as the Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics, 7-6, Friday night for their third consecutive victory.
Stevens, who matched his career high with four RBIs, went three or four. He hit an RBI triple in the second, a three-run homer in the third and doubled in the seventh. He also grounded out in the fifth.
Oddibe McDowell is the only Texas player to hit for the cycle, accomplishing the feat against against Cleveland on July 23, 1985.
Oakland’s Steve Karsay (2-8) was tagged for seven runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
