Rapist Arrested After TV Stint

BUENA PARK — Warren Dale Clewell’s few seconds of fame have come back to haunt him.
In a brief, nationally televised interview from the First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park last month, Clewell joined thousands of other Southern Baptists in criticizing Disney for programs parishioners consider offensive and anti-family.
An Irvine Police detective recognized Clewell from a 1978 rape conviction and promptly alerted Buena Park police, who arrested him Tuesday for failing to register as a “high risk” sex offender.
He was held at Buena Park City Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
