10 Hurt in 4-Car Crash; Driver Arrested
CHATSWORTH — An alleged drunken driver ran a red light at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Lassen Street, touching off a four-car crash in which 10 people were hurt, Los Angeles police said Sunday.
Gilberto Flores, whose age and address were not available, was arrested after the accident on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The collision occurred at 7:10 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Flores was traveling northbound on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in a 1984 Cadillac when he ran the red light and he collided with a car moving west on Lassen. That car then struck two other vehicles.
Police did not identify the driver of the car struck by Flores. But LAPD spokesman Don Cox said the driver suffered a fractured pelvis and hip and was in serious condition Sunday. Nine people suffered less serious injuries in the chain-reaction crash, Cox said.
