Grande Dame Returns
We would like to add a worthy name to Christopher Reynolds’ hotel list in “New York: New and Improved†(Nov. 2): the Roosevelt Hotel at 45th and Madison in midtown Manhattan.
The 1924 “grand dame†was closed for two years for a $65-million face lift. We recently spent several nights there and found her once again as attractive as she was when Guy Lombardo began his New Year’s Eve broadcasts.
Now guests can again “meet under the clock at The Roosevelt,†take high tea in the Palm Room and martinis in the Madison Club Lounge. We found the food and service excellent in the Colonial Room.
