Freshman Reserve Helps Spark Brea Olinda to Victory

Freshman reserve Jackie Lord made two key shots in the fourth quarter to spark Brea Olinda to a second-round 70-52 victory over San Jose Archbishop Mitty in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions Saturday night.

Chelsea Trotter scored 24 points and Lindsey Davidson scored 22 and had six assists for Brea Olinda (10-0).

Brea Olinda will play Mountain View (Utah) in the semifinal on Monday at Santa Barbara City College.

In other Santa Barbara Tournament games:

Hanford 75, Fountain Valley 69--Kelly Boeke scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Fountain Valley in a second-round game. Lindsay King had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Fountain Valley (2-5). Hanford is 11-0.

San Diego Rancho Bernardo 50, No. 6 Mater Dei 40--Robyn Fortney scored 15 points for Rancho Bernardo in a consolation victory. Chris Colon scored 12 points for Mater Dei. The Monarchs are 4-4.

In the Gary Raya Coed Classic:

El Dorado 68, Aliso Niguel 48--El Dorado’s Stephanie Patten scored 23 points as the Golden Hawks won the tournament championship. Teammate Yvette deBruijn scored 13 points for El Dorado (8-1).

Tara Mutukisna scored 16 points for Aliso Niguel (6-5).

In the Amador Valley Tournament:

Newark Memorial 57, Woodbridge 54--Nicole Roberts scored 20 points as Woodbridge lost the consolation championship game. Teammate Natalie Quinn scored 15 points.

In the Lakewood Artesia-Brethren Christian Tournament:

Brethren Christian 61, Compton 51--Rachel McDonald had 29 points and 18 rebounds for Brethren Christian.

Costa Mesa 42, Newport Harbor 33--Autumn Smith scored 12 points and Julie Collett had 11 for Costa Mesa.

In the Henderson (Nev.) Basic Lady Wolves Tournament:

El Toro 68, Meyers (Canada) 33--Meyers led by two points after the first quarter, but El Toro went on a 20-4 run to close out the second quarter. Giuliana Mendiola scored 28 points for El Toro (10-1).

Trabuco Hills 54, Inglewood 41--Emily Deeley scored 22 points in a quarterfinal victory for Trabuco Hills (6-2). Suzanne Linn scored 16 points for the Mustangs.

Trabuco Hills plays El Toro in the semifinals Monday at 6:15 p.m.

In the North Las Vegas Cheyenne Tournament:

No. 10 Troy 68, Las Vegas Silvarado 31--Tammy Yonamine scored 19 points for Troy. Teammate Sarah Spencer had 14 points and six rebounds.

San Clemente 57, Westminster 45-- Colleen Turnbull scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Tritons into the championship game against Ventura Buena Monday afternoon.
