Trustees Distrust Sweetheart Deal

* The Board of Supervisors is continuing to demonstrate fiscal irresponsibility and incompetence by trying to pressure the North Orange County Community College District into accepting a sweetheart deal that the supervisors have conceived with the law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae (Dec. 12).

Because the college trustees have done a superior job in doing due diligence and asking questions of the county treasurer, questions which resulted in false information being received from people under the jurisdiction of these supervisors, now the supervisors want to pressure the trustees not to be made whole so that these supervisors can have more of the pot.

If the supervisors had done a competent job in the first place, the college district would not have a problem. It is the proven misinformation provided to the school district by people in their charge that forced the district to sue in order to recoup their losses.

The North Orange County Community College District must have the strongest case against the law firm and both the firm and the supervisors know it, which is resulting in the inordinate pressuring and threats.

The voters are disgusted by these political pressuring tactics. Let the courts do their job and everyone will know who has the strongest case, and who should be compensated.

It sounds as though the supervisors do not believe in our judicial system but would prefer to use strong-arm, disgusting political pressuring techniques.

* Doesn’t the Board of Supervisors realize that the trustees of the college district were elected by the voters of that district and that they are responsible to them?

Therefore, the trustees should not bend under the political pressure from a proven inept Board of Supervisors.

Because the trustees of the North Orange County Community College District did an outstanding job and have a much stronger case, why shouldn’t they regain the losses incurred because of the inaction of the supervisors? Are the supervisors now asking the trustees to betray their responsibility to their electorate?

It appears that the supervisors and other politicians do not hold the electorate in high esteem.

I’m happy that some trustees are willing to fight for their constituents.
