Krill Works Overtime to Give Thousand Oaks a Victory

John Krill scored two minutes into overtime for Thousand Oaks High and the Lancers hung on to defeat Newbury Park, 3-2, Friday in a Marmonte League boys’ soccer game at Newbury Park.

It was Krill’s second consecutive game-winning goal for Thousand Oaks (4-2, 2-0 in league play). Danny Ermolovich had tied the score for the Lancers with 20 minutes remaining in regulation play.

Krill broke a 1-1 tie in the Lancers’ league opener against Westlake on Wednesday.

Casey Schmidt scored both goals for the Panthers (4-2-2, 1-1).

In other boys’ games:

Westlake 2, Agoura 1--Goals by Oscar Rodriguez and Jason Cook gave the Warriors (3-2, 1-1) a 2-0 first-half lead in a Marmonte League game at Westlake. Omid Noori and Todd Hammerslag had assists.

Adam Lieberman scored for Agoura (0-2 in league).

Quartz Hill 4, Ridgecrest Burroughs 1--Justin Sorsable had two goals and Chris McConnell added a goal and had an assist for the Rebels (3-2-1) in a nonleague game at Quartz Hill.

Flintridge Prep 2, Brentwood 1--Tizoc Cruz-Gonzalez and Drew Picone had goals for Flintridge Prep (5-2) in a nonleague game at Flintridge Prep.

Des Sansevere scored for Brentwood (3-4).

Crespi 2, St. John Bosco 2--Freshman Jimmy Sharp scored both goals and Armando Nila provided the assists for the Celts (4-2-1) in a nonleague game at St. John Bosco.

Village Christian 3, Desert Christian 1--Saro Amirian had two goals and Village Christian rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit in a nonleague game at Lancaster City Park.

Littlerock 1, Barstow 0--Saul Briseno scored for the Lobos (5-2-1) in the 45th minute after an assist from Jerry Pacheco in a nonleague game at Littlerock.

GIRLS

Simi Valley 2, Royal 1--Mindy Gondrez scored goals at the 15- and 39-minute marks to give the Pioneers (4-0, 2-0) the victory in the Marmonte League game at Royal.

Amy Ortega scored at the 76-minute mark for Royal (1-3, 1-1).

Thousand Oaks 4, Newbury Park 1--Kelley Hess had two goals and Lauren Mercaldo and Susan Shivokevitch also scored for Thousand Oaks (4-0-1, 1-0-1) in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.

Kami Mitchell had two assists and Mercaldo had one.
