Mothers of Slain Children Sponsor Toy, Food Drive
A South-Central Los Angeles organization of mothers whose children have been killed will host a toy and food drive for needy families tonight at an Inglewood supper club.
Members of Justice for Murdered Children plan to distribute toys and canned goods beginning at noon Saturday at 9315 S. Broadway.
“It makes me feel wonderful to be able to do something on behalf of our children,” said Vicky Lindsey, the group’s vice president whose son, Lionel, was killed in Compton two years ago.
Tonight’s event, billed as “Toys and Food for the Hood,” is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Mirage Supper Club, 11425 S. Crenshaw Blvd. For more information, call (213) 778-7697.
