Housing Projects Children to Get Visit From Santa, Gifts
More than 7,000 children are expected to meet Santa Claus and get Christmas gifts Sunday during the 10th annual Feliz Navidad Project held in six public housing projects on the Eastside and Downtown.
Children from Pico Gardens, Aliso Village, Estrada Courts, Rose Hills, Ramona Gardens and William Mead housing projects will benefit from the program, which is sponsored by Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alatorre.
Alatorre, whose district encompasses the six projects, said the Feliz Navidad celebration is the oldest and largest toy giveaway sponsored by an elected official in Southern California.
“The children are our most valuable asset,†the councilman said. “This is our way of bringing them joy and showing them we care about their well-being and their happiness.â€
