City Opposes Plans for Complex in Long Beach

City officials will fire off a letter objecting to a planned 67,000-square-foot shopping center in Long Beach’s Marina Shores, saying the development could cause traffic problems locally.
Among the council’s concerns are the expected widening of Pacific Coast Highway, including the elimination of right-turn lanes, and planned parking restrictions on both sides of the highway between the San Gabriel River and Seal Beach Boulevard.
“We don’t want them eating up PCH and taking parking away because it’s vital to our city,” Councilman George Brown said.
The development is proposed for Pacific Coast Highway to Marina Drive on the south and Studebaker Road to the east.
