Diedrich Coffee Posts Loss for Third Quarter
IRVINE — Diedrich Coffee Inc. posted a third-quarter loss while sales rose 10%.
The company, which operates a chain of coffeehouses, reported a net loss of $738,754, or 14 cents a share, for the three months ended Oct. 29, compared with a profit of $45,575, or 1 cent a share, for the third quarter last year. Sales for the quarter rose to $5.6 million from $5.1 million.
For the first nine months, the company reported a loss of $6.8 million, or $1.27 a share, which included a $4.6-million provision for store closings and restructuring costs. Sales were up 23% to $17.2 million from $14 million.
