Proposals Are Sought for Center at Lions Park
The city wants design proposals for a new downtown community center at Lions Park. The City Council on Monday agreed to seek bids from architects to design the 14,000-square-foot center, which will replace a gymnasium and meeting rooms built about 50 years ago at the 18th Street park. The old buildings will be demolished.
Designs will cost $153,000. Although details of the new center have yet to be drafted, a group of swimmers has received assurances from officials that the new center will have a pool.
