$80,000 Grant to Be Used for Liquor Store Checks
Liquor store inspections to uncover illegal sales began in Montebello this week, financed by an $80,000 state grant to the city’s Police Department.
Officer Ron Santo said that he and a representative of the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, which provided the grant, plan to invite about 100 licensed alcohol vendors in the city to voluntary training sessions on the sale of alcoholic beverages.
The grant, one of only three awarded in Los Angeles County this year, also will help train police officers to better enforce laws regulating the possession of alcohol by minors, liquor store operating standards and public intoxication.
