CHRONOLOGY
ROUND 2
--Early in the round, Tyson missed a right hand and the fighters clinched, with Holyfield’s head low. Lane broke them, and Holyfield’s head came up, catching Tyson above the right eye in what was called an accident by Lane.

--Midway through the round, Tyson complained of a low blow.

--With about one minute left in the round, after Holyfield blocked a Tyson hook, they clinched and almost wrestled to the ground. Lane again called time out to warn about the rough stuff.
ROUND 3
--Dr. Flip Hermanski went to Tyson’s corner during the rest period and watched as the handlers worked on the cut.
Tyson went out without his mouthpiece and the round was halted briefly.

--With just over a minute to go in the round, Holyfield landed a left low and was warned by Lane to keep his punches up.

--With 40 seconds left, Tyson jabbed and then missed a left-right and they clinched, Tyson spitting out his mouthpiece. Suddenly, Holyfield leaped in the air, turned his back and headed for his corner, blood streaming from his right ear, part of which was bitten off and spat out by Tyson. Tyson pushed him in the back.

--Tyson was penalized one point for the bite and one point for pushing Holyfield during a time out with 33 seconds left. Lane tells him that a recurrence will prompt him to disqualify Tyson.

--Four-minute break, while Holyfield was examined by ring physician Flip Hermanski, who ruled the fight could continue.
During break, assistant trainer Tommy Brooks argued for Holyfield to demand a disqualification. But Holyfield was angry and said, “Put the mouthpiece in. I’m going to knock this guy out.â€

--The fight resumed, and Tyson got in a short left to the jaw. Tyson pushed Holyfield away, and then they clinched and with 10 seconds to go, Tyson again spat out his mouthpiece and this time bit Holyfield in the left ear. Lane did not see it, and let the two finish the round.
Tyson had won the round, his first on most cards, but lost it because of the two points deducted from his score.

--After the round, Lane checked with Nevada State Athletic Commission Director Marc Ratner and ruled the fight a disqualification.
