The city has decided to purchase a new bookmobile to be used as a traveling display and information center in the resort area during construction and, later, to help meet the community’s library needs.
Officials said the bookmobile will be used to offer updates and drawings of the phases of the project, which include public improvements, a second Disney theme park and an expansion of the Convention Center.
At the end of the resort project, the city will convert the vehicle into a bookmobile. During the next four years, officials said, the city’s Community Services Department will seek grant corporate sponsorship to cover the $30,000 conversion.
The bookmobile will be purchased for about $99,000 from Matthews Specialty Vehicles in Archdale, N.C.
