MISSION VIEJO — A 10-year-old boy died Thursday from injuries suffered five days earlier in a car crash in Laguna Niguel, coroner’s officials said.
Thomas Weiss of Laguna Niguel apparently was not wearing a seat belt when the car in which he was a passenger rammed a signal pole Saturday, officials with the Sheriff’s Department said at the time.
The driver, Shannon Fertal, 36, of Laguna Niguel, and her son, Patrick, 10, seated in the front of the vehicle, also were not wearing seat belts but were protected by air bags. The three were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where Thomas Weiss died about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, a coroner’s spokeswoman said.
Fertal and her son were listed in good condition after the accident.
