Promising “pure-pop, mod [and] ear candy,†a monthly concert series called Incense & Peppermints debuts tonight at 8 at Fitzgerald’s, 19171 Magnolia Ave., Huntington Beach. Promoter Gordon McGrath, who plays bass in the ‘60s-besotted band Legendary Loose Screws, will devote the last-Saturday-of-each-month soiree to catchy grass-roots rock bands that follow stylistic strands winding back to the ‘60s. Helping with the promotion is Popsided Magazine, a publication based in O.C. that chronicles the new-pop scene. Tonight’s kickoff show will feature Legendary Loose Screws, the Shambles, Martin Luther Lennon, Single Bullet Theory, Walter Clevenger & the Dairy Kings and Charlotte’s Bionic Blimp, each playing a 25-minute set of not-yet-hits. $3. (714) 903-1465 (promoter’s hotline) or (714) 968-4523 (club phone).
